Story Board

This duo was so fun to shoot.  Mom had great ideas and a great location for us to shoot at.  An old house, over a hundred year old barn, red barn, kittens, wheat fields - I couldn't ask for more!  These two ladies were such a pleasure to work with, I love meeting new people and making new friends.  Thanks for the great time!

Christmas gift ideas - part I

A beautiful way to display your images is with a family name or child's name.  Each letter can be framed separately or we can collage the separate images in one print.  Backgrounds, letter fonts, and colours are completly customizeable to your taste.

Newborn

I'm just heading to bed so I'm going to make this short and sweet.  This little guy was (if I'm remembering correctly) 9 days old at the time of his session.   I love being able to book a session within the first two weeks after baby's arrival - we're more likely to be able to get the sleepy newborn poses that are just so precious.

BUSY! BUSY! BUSY!

Well I haven't been keeping up with my blog but I do have a very good excuse...I mean several good excuses. I'm now back and wanting to posts all my sessions at once but thought maybe you wouldn't look at them all if I did it that way.  So how about I post 1 per day until I'm all caught up?  I'm not promising but I'll sure give it my best!

This following shoot I did at the end of August.  This family was wonderful in spite of me delaying their shoot by several minutes.  Here's what happened....  I show up to our meeting place ready to go, turn on my camera and it doesn't work!  I'm a professional photographer, I need my camera to work!  I have no idea what is wrong, I start to panic (inside my head of course) and then remember my friend has an identical camera to mine - yay for friends who watch your four kids and bring you their camera in a time of need. Thank you Shannon!  Anyways, after having a camera that works in my hand we walk and by walk I mean chase this little guy around the park.  The only time he stayed still is when we put him up on the window ledge!   I love kids with energy, their smiles are genuine and they give me a good work out!

Play Ball!

I know what you are thinking....I must be an amazing photographer to get this little guy to look right at the camera and smile for every single shot...but....it was all him.  I just had to snap these wonderful smiles, then move on to the next shot.  Don't get me wrong I love making super weird faces, making all sorts of animal noises and my most favorite of all - fart noises to get little ones to crack a smile but this little boy must be taking some side classes as a baby model, cause I don't think he was fussy or shyed away from the camera once.

Rock Star Chyks

These 2 little rock stars needed a photoshoot as unique as them, so we grabbed a guitar, feather boas, and a microphone and headed down to the park to rock out in the gazebo.  I love when moms have ideas and props to make their shoot what they want it to be, so it is personal to them.  Thanks rock stars, let me know when your debut album comes out!

Triple the Fun!

I really admire this family.  They are always so happy and calm when I see them.  I can somewhat relate to a house full of kids but there is only about 2 years in total between these 3 little boys - I can only imagine what it must be like and what it will be like in a few short years how busy this mom and dad will be.

Blonde Bliss

Aren't these two just the cutest pair!  And they are as sweet as they look!  Our kids are fortunate to have such wonderful playmates and I am lucky to call this family our friends.  This was another shoot done just around the neighborhood - prooving you don't have to go far to capture special moments - like a bear hug from your big brother.

The Neighborhood

This photoshoot of our littlest one was taken just around our neighborhood.  I am always on the lookout for new and exciting spots for photoshoots that I hadn't even looked at what our little bay had to offer.  We are very fortunate to back onto a greenspace where Veda could run around.  We also went down back alleys, the neighbors beautiful red rock driveway and we even snuck into some of their flower beds!  I was really suprised how many beautiful photos we got just around the block.

Mother, Daughter Photoshoot

This little girl was so full of energy - makes you wish you could bottle it up and sell it - I'd be rich!  I think it is very special to have photos of parents with their children.  Your kids will cherish them as they grow older. Alot of times we as mothers want to remember our kids but forget to be in a few pics ourselves.  I know I'm always the one behind the camera and looking back I wish I had a few more of myself with the kids - at least to prove I was there!

Max the Cowboy

I have a friend who every year gets an individual photoshoot of each of her kids on the month of their birthday.  I think this is such a great idea in addition to family photos - this way they can have a shoot that really portrays who they are and what they like.  This sample of pics is from my son's own photoshoot that we did on the way out to Weyburn.  He was already dressed as his usual cowboy self and we spotted a barn right off the highway. I thought what a perfect spot for Max's photo shoot. We hopped out on the muddiest road, ran through the field while the other 3 sat in the van and had our very own 10 minute shoot - He can't wait to have his favorite pic of him and the barn framed and put up in his room!

1 Year Old!

Happy Birthday to this little sweetheart.  This little guy was sooo cute and sooo good!  I miss my kids being one - too bad we couldn't freeze that age and maybe skip the terrible twos.  He had the most amazing little blazer that I actually ended up stealing after the shoot (unintentional of course!)

100 Sessions!

This summer marks the launch of my full time photography business.  I have been taking clients for the past year on a very limited basis and now that I have a full time "House Dad" (as my four year old calls him) I am able to take on more clients! Yay!  My goal for this summer and fall is to book 100 sessions.  I know this is a big goal and it will not be easy. To help me obtain this goal I would like to hire you (yes you!) as my advertising team.  Radio ads, billboards, and flyers may be effective but I would rather reward my wonderful clients, family and friends for spreading the work about Shoestring Photography.  It is a common fact that word of mouth is the best form of advertising!  For each person you refer I will mail you a cheque for $25!  Thank you everyone for your continuing support!

Sneak Peak

I love this family!  I can't beleive how everyone cooperated with me for this photoshoot.  I have four kids myself  and they are not the most fun to photograph in a group.  These guys just followed me around the city with the promise that the next stop just may be the park.

These boys were one of my families who took part in my Spring Mini Shoot.  They were so polite and nice, it was a real pleasure to work with them.

Oh Baby!

Thank you God for the beautiful weather we had for this little princess's 6 month shoot.  I just loved that she was able to wear her pretty sundress with no jacket.  The day before it poured, the week before it snowed (I thought mother nature was trying to destroy my career as a photographer).

Cowgirl

This little girl is such a sweetheart.  With her beautiful, big brown eyes and perfect curls she may just be our next Winners model!

Let it rain!!!

This past week Medicine Hat's weather has not been to cooperative with my schedule.  I ended up postponing my "Spring Mini Event" until next week in hopes that we may have a beautiful day so the little one's are not shivering in their photos.  But for the young lady that was scheduled for Friday evening - she decided to brave the cold, wet weather and head outside to capture some fun images.  Well let me tell you I would not have been so brave with my naturally curly aka frizzy hair - The rain did not let up for us and I was very glad to be behind the camera.

Spring is Here!

With all the strange weather we have had this month - snow storms to 30 degree days - I am finally starting to think spring is here to stay.  What a perfect time to get outside and get some great images of your little ones enjoying nature.  I am hosting a Spring mini event to get things started.  Check the Events tab at the top of the page for more details.
